Why the new SubStack?
Welcome to PashaNomics by me, Pasha Kamyshev. Starting with free posts. Paid content coming Nov 2020.
A brief bit about me. I was born in Kyrgyzstan, came to the US in 2001 to study in Deerfield Academy high school. I then attended Yale between 2005-2009 graduating with a B.S. in Computer Science. After that, I worked for Microsoft, Facebook and Amazon. I was also involved a bit with the rationality and AI safety communities. I quit Microsoft in Sept 2020.
I have had several blogs in the past and written for Palladium Magazine.
Initially I am re-writing the best parts of my previous blogs to put here, focusing on the general path of going from rational or systematic to post-rational or meta-systematic reasoning.
After that I plan to write about are following:
Explanations of hard-to-understand philosophy (Girard, for example) and how they apply to current events
Models of rationality applicable to every-day problems
Problems with the modern “scientific” world view and how to navigate it
AI safety or lack thereof
Economic theory from first principles relevant to design of crypto
Horrors of modern software
I hope to resurrect discourse around software, skillful conduct and society that is grounded in solid theory and grounded in math if need be.
In the meantime, tell your friends!
